Chile has been a world example in its vaccination plan to combat the Cornavirus. Ninety percent of its population is fully vaccinated, 73% has its booster dose and the fourth dose of the vaccine and the school population are already in progress.

In other words, more than 17 million people have antibodies against Covid-19 in Chile.

This translates into double the number of vaccines for the first schedule, something like 34 million doses, 17 million vaccines for the third dose and 1.2 million for the fourth dose. In total more than 50 million doses implemented in the population.

This has left Chile with the highest percentage of vaccinated population in the world, ahead of China, India, the United States, Brazil, Japan and others. The difference increases even more when separating only the Latin American region.

But none of this is free and Chile put a lot of money into achieving it. Not only in terms of health personnel, but especially the laboratories that make these vaccines. According to information disclosed in the open data of the 2021 executed budget (published by the Chilean Budget Office), the country spent more than 500 million dollars to buy these vaccines from Sinovac, Pfizer and Astrazeneca.
